You’ve been meaning to ask about a symptom all week. Then the video appointment starts, the camera needs adjusting, and the question disappears from your mind. A little preparation makes it easier to use the time well.
Put the important details in one place
Have a current list of medicines and supplements, including the exact GLP-1 product you use, its instructions, and when you last took it. The labeled packaging can help if the name or concentration is hard to remember.
For a first visit, bring your health history and previous weight-management treatments. Mention relevant conditions, allergies, pregnancy plans, and any procedures coming up. Don’t assume a new clinician can see records from another practice.
Choose the questions that matter most
Write down two or three priorities before opening the appointment. They might be about eating enough, a symptom, a refill, or how progress will be assessed. Put the most important one first.
If something has changed, add a few specifics. “Nausea after dinner three evenings this week” gives the clinician more to work with than “my stomach feels off.” Include whether you could drink, eat, work, and carry on with normal activities.
Make the conversation easier to hear
Choose a private place where you can speak openly. Check your connection, charge the device, and have your glasses or hearing support nearby if needed. If you want someone with you, decide what role you’d like them to have.
Home measurements can be useful when requested. Record how and when you took them rather than guessing or substituting an old result. Ask the practice beforehand if you aren’t sure what equipment or information is needed.
Leave with a plan you can explain
Before ending, confirm the next steps in your own words. Know which instructions apply now, what should prompt a message, how to request a refill, and when the next check-in should happen.
If a medicine direction is unclear, ask for written clarification. You don’t have to wait until you’re holding the syringe or pen to resolve it. A good visit should leave you knowing what to do next and who to contact when a question comes up.
